At Daiichi Sankyo, those who provide education and patient support for our medicines are part of what we call CARE Teams. The CARE acronym—Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Execution—reflects the values embodied by these regional teams based throughout the U.S.
Day-to-day responsibilities include engaging with cancer doctors to share the latest scientific information, teaching nurses how to administer medicines, and helping patients get access to treatments. But they don’t stop there. CARE Team members regularly go above and beyond the call of duty, lacing up their sneakers and putting on formal attire for everything from 5K walks to fundraisers.
They serve as the face of Daiichi Sankyo at hundreds of events and outreach activities each year, putting purpose into action and inspiring hope in communities across the country.
Read on for inspiring stories and get a glimpse into the spirit of teamwork and compassion that defines the CARE Team model in our 2025 highlights reel.
‘Hustling for Hope’ in Metro NY/NJ
Breathe Deep Anywhere, a nationwide initiative of the LUNGevity Foundation, raises awareness and funds for lung cancer research and education. In November, Daiichi Sankyo teams show up in a big way at community events from Atlanta, Georgia to Scottsdale, Arizona. The Metro NY/NJ team, led by District Manager Ana Macias, represented the region at the Central Park Breathe Deep Anywhere event.
“We have a unified purpose, as we like to say ‘Hustle for Hope’ on this lung team,” according to Ana. “The LUNGevity walks in particular are so meaningful because we see advocacy in action and so much love and support for the patients and their caregivers.”
Greater Together in the Carolinas
Oncology Territory Manager Blair Wilson lost her dad 14 years ago. Blair will never forget being in a room of doctors who could not make eye contact with her and her family because they had run out of options.
“I’m inspired to do what I do every day in order to reduce or eliminate those awful moments for other families,” shares Blair, pictured far right. “I feel with 100% certainty that we are greater together, working as a team. Whether at special events such as the Evening of Hope, organized by the Lung Cancer Initiative in North Carolina, or in our day-to-day work, we support each other to bring immeasurable value to our providers and the patients they serve.”
Giving Back is Big in the Great Plains
The Great Plains CARE team may cover a large geography, but members consistently show up and support each other’s communities. These events remind teammates that they’re connected and matter to one another.
“I’m inspired to participate in our community events, such as the Sanford Health Foundation Roger Maris Gala in North Dakota, because they demonstrate that we truly care and are committed to showing up for patients,” says Ronni Miller, Senior Medical Science Liaison, Oncology Breast, pictured in center.
Team Building in Tennessee
The Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition’s Annual Celebration of Life Golf Tournament is just one-way colleagues in this region give back. The annual charitable outing supports patients by covering expenses, such as rent, utilities and groceries, when they are unable to remain employed.
“Seeing the impact we can make when we come together as a team for something bigger than ourselves is truly remarkable,” says Ashley Fodor, Associate Director, Field Reimbursement, pictured at left. “It's an opportunity to give back, build trust, and remind ourselves why our work truly matters.”
Deep is the Heart of Texas
Working closely together, the South Central Texas CARE Team has experienced firsthand how powerful collaboration can be. Their dedication to improving patient access, supporting clinics, and strengthening processes motivates each member to get involved and do their part.
“I believe small actions truly make a meaningful difference for patients and for one another,” says Signe Smith, Oncology Territory Manager, Oncology Breast. “It’s incredibly fulfilling to be part of a team that combines purpose, compassion and camaraderie in everything we do.”
Wheels on the Ground in Ohio
The Pelotonia, which helps fund cancer research for the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, has become a time the Ohio CARE Team looks forward to each year. Throughout the three-day event, they work the Daiichi Sankyo booth, attend research sessions and participate in the cycling event.
Patrick Deemer, Executive Oncology Territory Manager, Hematology and Supportive Care, pictured far right, says, “We believe strongly in supporting the oncology community we serve with the end goal of helping patients fight horrible diseases and gain more time with their families.”
